Principal Message
Dear Students and Parents:
Welcome to East Gaston High School! East Gaston is not only where I graduated from high school, but it is also where I began my teaching career. I know firsthand of the high quality educational opportunities and extra curricular activities that EG has to offer. It is up to each student to take advantage of these opportunities and make the most of their high school career.
It is our goal and expectation that every student and adult is safe at our school. Understanding and following the rules and procedures of EGHS and the Gaston County Schools Code of Student Conduct is foundational to school safety. In addition to rules and procedures, having adults who support students in and out of the classroom and outside of school is essential to safety as well. This is why the relationship between school and home is important.
Our teachers, support staff, coaches, counselors, and administrators are willing to join with students and parents to offer support, guidance, assistance and encouragement. Mutual communication between school and home is essential for student success.
These four years are paramount to the future success of each student. A high school diploma, once earned, can never be taken away. It is the foundation for so many next steps in life. Our goal at East Gaston is to help each student on their journey of graduating from high school and support them as they plan their path beyond high school. Parents/Guardians, we see ourselves as partners with you as we work together to help our students reach their goals. You are counting on us to do our part, and we're counting on you to do yours. Students, the same goes for you. Your commitment and your willingness to earn your high school diploma is the most important factor. While your team (both staff and parents and family members) is here to support you, guide you and encourage you, we can’t do it for you. That is your responsibility. It is also what makes receiving your diploma special.
This is going to be an outstanding school year! I look forward to sharing my alma mater with each of you.
Sound the Clarion Call,
Rebecca L. Huffstetler, Ed. D.
